Dog Holes: With Dog Holes

The HNT Gordon Wide Jaw Bench Vice is a non-racking front vice designed to hold work square and tight, even when clamping at the far edge of the jaw. Smooth in action and beautifully precise, it delivers secure holding with very little pressure from the handle.

Precision made from brass and aluminium, the vice runs on a finely milled shaft with hard-wearing nylon bushings for smooth travel and long-term reliability. Its hidden, self-cleaning thread protects the moving parts from dust and shavings, helping ensure effortless performance over time.

Developed and tested in full workshop conditions over five years, this vice proved highly efficient in day-to-day use. With no racking to fight against, there is less need for constant readjustment and no need for excessive tightening.

The wide jaw format provides a larger clamping area than our standard front vice, making it especially useful for larger work and tasks such as drawer making. It arrives complete and ready for installation, with simple mounting that requires little to no modification to most benches.

Note: The vice does not come with dog holes drilled in the top of the vice as seen in some of the photos/videos. You can select this option before checking out - We will drill two dog holes 50mm from each end. We find this to be a good set-up, but if you want different spacing, please email us to order as we will need to customise this for you at an extra cost. If you decide to add dog holes once you receive your vice, we recommend not to do them larger than 1/2" as it may compromise the jaw, and you will lose your warranty. 
 

Accessories available for purchase:


Tilting vice jaws are available for holding odd-shaped stock like chair legs and musical instrument parts.  The tilting jaw fits into a ½” hole bored into the work-bench. You can find information on these here.
