Note: Out of stock. Please place your order and we will post your plane once made.

These gidgee 1/2" Side Round Planes are 225mm long x 12.5 mm wide x 67 mm high. Weigh 0.3Kg each and have a 3/16" thick x 1/2" wide Tool steelblade Rc 62-64 shaped to suit the sole of the plane.

They have a 60 degrees blade angle for planing. The sole is a 1/2" radius, 90 degree segment.

Used to sink a curved surface adjacent to a vertical surface in a moulding. These planes are very desirable when making complex moldings.

The side of the plane with the curved edge indicates whether it is a left or right hand plane. e.g. If the curved edge is on the right hand side when the plane is facing forward (HNT Stamp at the front), it is a right handed plane.

My HNT Gordon planes are in my will.

These side rounds were the missing link for the moldings on an elaborate cabinet I am building. Many thanks for such wonderful products. Me and mine are looking to use them for generations. Roger

Moulding planes

I recently purchased the side rounds, 3/8 hollow/round, 1/2 inch dado, and snipes bill pair. All have been essential in replicating the mouldings for a duplication of a late 19th century figured maple pair of low casework furniture I am making. These planes are the best, simply put. The 3/4 and 1 inch shoulder planes I got from you almost 20 years ago perform as new. Precision tools, all. And they just look good.
