3/4" Skew Rebate/Rabbet Plane
This gidgee 3/4" Skewed Rebate/Rabbet Plane is used for forming and cleaning up rebates along or across the grain.
It is 225mm long x 3/4" wide x 60mm high. Weighs 0.5 Kg and has a 3/16" thick x 3/4" wide Tool steelblade Rc 62-64
It has a 60 degrees blade pitch with a 4 degree skew for planing. The skewed blade provides for efficient shaving removal in long rebates, helps hold the left side of the plane into the corner of the rebate and helps to give a nice surface finish across the grain. Handy to use in conjunction with Hollows and Rounds to make mouldings.

This is a very easy tool to use due to the skewed blade. I have used antique rebate planes with a straight blade and they are much harder to use. The brass locking mechanism secured the blade really well avoiding and blade drift.
