Large Curved Sole Spoke Shave
This gidgee Curved Spoke Shave has a 75mm (3") radius and is 280mm long x 24 mm wide x 22 mm high. Weighs 0.5 Kg and has the option of a 45mm wide x 1.6mm thick x 34mm long Tool Steel (TS) blade hardened to Rc 62-64 OR a High Speed Steel (HSS) blade hardened to Rc 62. The HSS is ideal if you plan to reverse the blade to bevel up and use it as a scraper on hard timber.
It has a 55 degrees blade pitch for planing and by reversing the blade (to bevel up) it will perform as a scraper for use of hard cranky woods.
Used for fine finishing of inside curves. You can also plane a combination of inside and outside curves with one pass once you have mastered this tool.

As it happens, I haven't used this tool yet. However, all of the other planes I have from HNT Gordon work just beautifully. The spoke-shave is beautiful - the brass looks like jewellery! I know that this will be another HNT Gordon tool that I love and revere! I'm now looking for an excuse to buy either the mini-shave or a pair of rounds and hollows!

I cannot believe the quality of this shave. As my first HNT Gordon tool, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But the fit and finish is second to none and the blade is perfectly sharp right out of the box ready to go to work. Included are comprehensive instructions on the setting up of the tool which is a nice. The square handles are a nice design touch and really help to get a feel for the technic used to smooth the concave surfaces. I would happily recommend this tool to anyone who is looking for a quality spoke shave, or anyone who loves quality tools. Thank you for offering such a great product.
