Specialty Snakewood No.20 1" Shoulder Plane

This snakewood 1" Shoulder Plane is stamped and signed as the 20th one ever made in this timber.  A collectors item.

Used to clean up the shoulders of tenons and tenon tongues across the grain or a rebate with the grain.

It is 198mm long x 1" wide x 60mm high. Weighs 0.8 Kg and has a 3/16" thick x 1" wide Tool steel blade hardened to Rc 62-64.

It has a 60 degrees blade angle for planing or 90 degrees for scraping hard/cranky grain (by reversing the blade to bevel up).

Snakewood shoulder plane.

The plane and spokeshaves showed up last week and I was stunned. There’re more like fine jewelry for working wood than just a tool to get the job done. The snakewood is beautiful, so stock upon more as I will be ordering more planes in the same material . Thanks again HNT.... Craig
