Specialty Lignum Vitae Block Plane

This Lignum Vitae block plane has a higher blade pitch of 55 degrees - being optimised for hard, cranky timber, however it works equally as well on softer woods. You can also reverse the blade to create a 85 degree cabinet scraper, which gets you out of trouble when working with really hard cranky woods that can't be planed. Used for general purpose planing or trimming of any small pieces of timber, particularly hardwood and end grain. Easily used in one hand.

This Gidgee Block plane is 175mm long x 54mm wide x 38mm high. Weighs 0 .8Kg and has a 1. 1/2" wide x 1/8" thick x 81mm long High Speed Steel (HSS) blade hardened to Rc 62. The HSS is ideal if you plan to reverse the plane to bevel up and use it as a scraper on cranky woods.
